FAQs
Before your journey
A few things you may be wondering before we begin planning together.
01 — Concept & Approach
How is a journey with The Natives Travel different from a traditional tour?
We begin with people, not a checklist of places. We document local stories, cultures, and everyday life, then shape journeys that invite you to experience the North beyond its viewpoints. The landscapes matter—but so do the conversations, knowledge, and people who give them meaning. That is what we mean by “Travel Through People.”
How is a journey planned around my interests?
It starts with a conversation: what draws you here, how you like to travel, and what you hope to experience. We use that understanding to shape a journey around your interests, available time, and preferred pace, alongside what local hosts are willing and able to share. Co-creation means planning together—not promising access to every experience.
How do your four seasonal chapters work?
Each chapter is a different invitation into the life of the mountains:
- Navroz Nama — spring, renewal, and community celebration.
- Jannat Nama — May–June, discovery, abundance, and everyday life.
- Rang Nama — autumn, harvests, changing colours, and quieter rhythms.
- Ghar Waapsi — winter, warmth, belonging, and stories.
These are starting points for your journey, not identical itineraries repeated throughout the year. Exact dates and experiences are discussed during planning.
02 — Planning & Pricing
How long are the journeys?
For Rang Nama, we have developed five-, seven-, and ten-night options through Skardu, Hunza, and Nagar. For other chapters, we discuss the duration during planning. Tell us how much time you have, and we can explore a route and pace that leave room for experiences—not just movement between places.
Can I travel solo, as a couple, or with a private small group?
Tell us who is coming, your preferred dates, and the chapter that interests you. We will discuss what arrangements are available for your party and provide a proposal accordingly. Please check with us about solo travel rather than assuming there is a shared departure you can join.
03 — Care & Preparation
How physically demanding are the journeys?
The demands depend on the route and activities included. Share your walking comfort, mobility needs, and any concerns relevant to the itinerary when you enquire, so we can discuss whether the proposed arrangements are appropriate. Please don’t assume every experience is suitable for every traveler.
How can I be a respectful guest?
Come with curiosity, listen before assuming, and ask before photographing people or entering private spaces. Follow your host’s guidance around homes, dress, meals, and religious or cultural occasions. Respect a person’s choice not to participate or be photographed. For us, guesthood means remembering that what feels like an experience to a visitor is someone else’s everyday life.
